The Communist Party of China (CPC) will launch in December a nationwide publicity campaign for the Party's agenda for China's development over the next five years, a statement said Tuesday.

The Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee will send teams across the nation to educate the public on the guiding principles of the Fifth Plenum of the 17th CPC Central Committee, said the statement issued after a meeting attended by Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

The document did not say how many teams will be sent.

Last month, the CPC Central Committee convened a four-day plenary session in Beijing that outlined the 12th five-year national development plan with the key objectives of restructuring the economy and improving people's living standards nationwide.

The campaign will last until May 2011. It aims to improve the public's understanding of Party policies and decisions, Li said at the Tuesday meeting.

The publicity teams will work hard to introduce the public to the changes at home and abroad while also explaining how the Party plans for the future, he said.

The teams will also publicize the achievements and progress China has made in the past five years and detail how the nation will develop over the next five years, he said.

"We should work hard to help the people realize the transformation of the economic development pattern while building their sense of responsibility and initiative in this work," he said.

The campaign will be divided into two phases, according to another circular that was issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Tuesday.

The first phase will last until the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), the circular said.

In the first phase, the campaign will focus on publicizing the guiding principles of the Fifth Plenum of the 17th CPC Central Committee.

In the second phase, from the NPC session until the end of April, the campaign will work to promote the 12th five-year national development plan.
