A court in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality sentenced two men to death on Wednesday, two to suspended death sentences and two others to jail terms for producing drugs.
The Chongqing First Intermediate People's Court sentenced Tan Liren and Yan Changfeng to death for producing a large amount of crystal methamphetamine, known as "ice".
Pang Zehui and Li Shunping were each given the death penalty with a two-year reprieve.
All four also had their personal assets confiscated.
Further, Wang Hong received an eight-year jail term for drug producing, and Liu Yong, a four-year jail term for concealing the drug defendants.
The ring has been producing methamphetamine in Chongqing since September 2008. Police found more than 6.79 kg of the drugs and 37.8 kg of semi-manufactured ice drugs, and a large amount of materials for drug-making, at the site where they arrested the suspects in May 2009.
