It is the most extensive revision of the website since it was established 10 years ago. The revamped website will give more weight to the lives of ordinary Tibetans, covering issues like education, employment, housing, travel and health.

"Our website has readers from more than 100 countries. We are constantly adapting to the needs of our readers. We hope to provide the information readers most want to know about Tibet when the new version is launched," Zhang Xiaoping, editor-in-chief of China Tibet Online, said.

New concepts and new technology have been added to the website. "Drolma Online" is an interactive section that answers questions raised by readers from around the globe. The editorial team works with experts from renowned universities to provide the most accurate answers. "Our website aims to serve as a platform to provide a true picture of Tibet for people home and abroad," Wei Wu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Tibet Online, said. "We want to create a better user experience."

The website also carries exclusive stories from Tibet. It has opened an office in Lhasa to transmit the latest news, features and photos back to Beijing. "Everyone working for the website will have an opportunity to work and live in Tibet for a while," Wei said.

Subjects covered by the website include religious freedom, preservation of Tibet's religious and cultural heritage and environmental protection.

China Tibet Online is published in Chinese, English and Tibetan.
