The personal information of 13 heads of pornographic websites has been published for the first time, in a report by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Tuesday, according to the Beijing News.

The report, called "Illegal and Unhealthy Information on Mobile Internet Inspection Report (issue 3, 2010)," was compiled by the Network Information Security research group at the Institute of Policy and Management, CAS. The group said that it investigated basic telecommunications operators, mobile value added service providers and content providers (SP/CP), pornographic websites – and others.

The report disclosed details of heads of pornographic WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) sites – which are websites created specifically for use on mobile phones – such as their Uniform Resource Locator (URL), identity card numbers, bank account information, mobile numbers, as well as the details of their QQ accounts, which are used for chatting online, the Beijing News said.

Those exposed include the heads of the Tongyong Network surnamed Li and Xu, as well as what the report called the "domain holder and direct operator of the content platform for porn WAP sites" surnamed Cao, and a professional porn site head surnamed Liang.

Liang operated a porn WAP site series uncovered by China Central Television (CCTV) in June last year, and owns more than 20 porn websites. The sites he runs have reportedly released tens of thousands of porn films, and over one million unique mobile users per day visit the 15 WAP sites he owns.

The report warned that porn WAP sites are developing and looking to operate as corporations.

The research group also criticized the SP/CPs, saying that 12 SP/CPs have put their business on nearly 100 porn WAP sites, increasing twofold since last year, despite attacks on these sites regularly occurring in 2010.

According to the report, the WAP payment union "168 Paypal" has supplied the instant service for making payments by mobile phone top-up card, serving as a money laundering platform for the porn sites.

The research group investigated a total of 2,700 WAP sites between August and November last year, finding 272 sites spreading porn content, making up 10 percent of such sites. They also discovered two websites providing money laundering services via top-up cards of cell phones, and two sites selling prohibited sex toys.

Of these websites, 49 are allegedly operated by overseas companies, 171 by heads of large porn WAP sites, and another 56 by private operators.
