Income-related rents to be adopted to Beijing's public rental housing

The rents of Beijing's public rental houses will be calculated according to the income of the tenant family. The rents of Beijing's public rental houses will be calculated according to the income of the tenant family, the Beijing Daily reported.

Zhang Guowei, an official from local housing administration, said a standard rent will be set first in accordance with the construction costs and maintaining fees of the public rental housing. The actual rents will be calculated based on the standard rent after considering each family's different income status.

The calculation method of the rent will be released soon, said Zhang.

A total of one million indemnificatory apartments are planned to be built in Beijing during 2011 to 2015. Among them, 60 percent will be public rental houses.
