Party chief in south China city investigated

A Communist Party chief in south China's Guangdong Province has been detained and is being investigated for corruption, a spokesman with the provincial procuratorate said Friday.

The provincial people's procuratorate started questioning Luo Yinguo, Party chief of Maoming City, on Thursday, the spokesman said.

Luo, born in 1954, began serving as secretary of the Maoming Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China in April 2007.
