The newly-established Shenzhen-based South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC) in Guangdong Province is embarking on an instructor-recruitment blitz, with a focus on highly-qualified educators both in China and abroad.

According to Zhu Qingshi, the headmaster of SUSTC, the university has enrolled several elite professors, including computer-science experts Zhang Jingzhong and Chen Guoliang and Cambridge University physics guru Chen Yingtian, in addition to nabbing top-rated professors from Tsinghua University, City University of Hong Kong and the University of Science and Technology of China. In April, the university will send recruiters to the US on an overseas talent hunt.

At present, it has received more than 8,000 jobs applications, among which more than 3,000 candidates are applying for teaching posts.
