A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Friday the fight against corruption is facing many challenges, and the tasks ahead are arduous.

He Guoqiang, head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks while delivering a speech at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

"Corruption can still be found easily in some sectors and there is the severe phenomenon that some officials and Party members are violating disciplines and laws," He said.

"The problems of infringing upon public interests are still serious," said He, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

He noted that China's corruption-fighting mechanism is incomplete, while "decadent" mindsets have made some officials lose their sense of responsibility.

He urged officials to maintain "blood ties with the people," improve corruption prevention mechanism and strengthen efforts to fight graft.
