The University of Macao (UM) accepted donations of 200 million patacas (25 million U.S. dollars) from Wynn Resorts (Macao) in a ceremony held on Monday.

The donations, the largest single benefaction since University of Macao Development Foundation (UMDF)'s inception in December 2009, will be used to support the long-term development of the University of Macao (UM) and its Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management.

Steve Wynn, Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts, expressed intention to further donate 80 million patacas (10 million U.S. dollars) to UMDF every year for the next 11 years.

UM Rector Zhao Wei expressed thanks for the generous donation by Wynn Resorts, adding that such donations not only provide needed financial support but also demonstrate the high level of trust and expectation from society and community.

As Macao's leading university, UM has received several multi-million donations from foundations and individuals, including Wu Yee Sun Charitable Foundation's 150 million HK dollars (19.3 million U.S. dollars) last year.
