Journalist rumored to have nose slashed outside CCTV station

A photo of a woman covered in blood hit the Internet yesterday afternoon. According to online media reports, she is an employee of China Central Television station (CCTV). Rumor has it her nose and face were slashed yesterday by an aggrieved stranger lying in wait outside the CCTV compound.

The photo circulating the Web shows a woman about 30 years old holding her nose with both hands sitting in a pool of blood.

Rumor has it the assailant went to CCTV yesterday morning, asking reporters to help him solve a problem. Police later arrived and persuaded him to leave. That afternoon, the man went to CCTV again and met a woman outside the compound. He asked her if she was a CCTV reporter. After the woman said yes, he took out a knife, attacked her and sped away in a car.

Yesterday evening, local police posted a message on Sina Weibo, a microblog service, saying they received a report at 1:40 pm. and found a woman injured near the south side of the CCTV compound.

The injured woman was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Local police said the injuries were not life threatening.

Police are currently investigating the case.
