Families of the 36 victims of a high-speed train crash in east Zhejiang Province have agreed to accept government compensation, authorities said.

The family of each victim will receive 915,000 yuan (143,000 U.S.dollars), which was almost doubled from the original offer of 500,000 yuan, according to a work team in charge of the aftermath of the accident.

Forty people were killed and 192 others were injured in late July when a bullet train rammed into another that had stalled on the railway in the city of Wenzhou.
