The Communist Party of China's (CPC) publicity chief on Tuesday called for improvement of publicity to help the general public better understand current social and economic problems and the government's solution in a theoretic perspective.

Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a seminar on the publication of a theoretic interpretation of current hot spot issues which have aroused concerns from the public.

"China is in a crucial stage of the reform and opening-up process, and as the country goes through unprecedented and far-reaching changes, hot spot and tough social problems are inevitably on the rise, so it's imperative to learn from good practices... and bridge the gap between theories and policies and the public," Liu said.

The booklet, compiled by the Publicity Department and literally translated as "From how to see to how to do," elaborates on various social problems, such as wealth gap, rising housing prices, and problems in education and medical care systems.
