The families of the 15 deceased victims in a ceramics factory fire on Aug. 23 have reached compensation deals with the factory in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said on Friday.

Each family will get 700,000 yuan (about 110,000 U.S. dollars) in compensation according to the deals reached with the Shengfeng Ceramics Company in Sanshui District of Foshan City, according to the information office of the district government.

The fire broke out at 6 a.m. on Aug. 23 and engulfed the factory's building, which contains both dormitories and offices, and left 15 dead and one seriously injured who remains hospitalized, the office said.

An investigation showed that the fire was caused by a short circuit that occurred in an iron wire duct on the second floor of the building.
