All 170 post-disaster reconstruction projects have started in mudslide-hit Zhouqu County in northwest Gansu Province, said authorities with the local government on Sunday.

By the end of October, the amount of capital invested had reached about 2.1 billion yuan (331.17 million U.S. dollars), which covered about 42 percent of the planned total investment.

According to the reconstruction plan, by the end of 2012, all urban and rural residential buildings, urban construction, public service facilities and other major infrastructure will be completed.

Zhouqu was devastated when an avalanche of mud roared down the slopes of a nearby mountain on Aug. 8, 2010, following days of heavy rain.

The catastrophe left 1,765 people dead or missing and destroyed buildings and roads, causing huge economic losses.
