At least seven people were killed on Monday evening after a wall of a rural house under construction collapsed in east China's Shandong Province, local authorities said Tuesday.

The accident happened at about 6 p.m. in the village of Dongnanzhuang in Changle county, according to the county government.

Two of the 14 workers who were building the house when the wall collapsed died at the scene, while five others died later in hospital, said the local government.

Among the remaining seven workers, five have been hospitalized with injuries, including two in critical conditions, and two others are safe and sound.

Owner of the house is now under control by the local police, and cause of the accident is being investigated.
