The Chinese mainland will encourage its film and television companies to introduce more TV series from Taiwan and conduct joint-production activities, a spokeswoman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office said at a regular press briefing Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Fan Liqing made the remarks while unveiling a slew of new measures to promote cross-Straits film and television exchanges.

In regards to jointly-produced TV series, Fan said the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) has promised to speed up the pace of granting approval to such TV series.

The SARFT will also encourage China Central Television to air these TV series on designated channels.

The mainland will continue to open its arms to entertainers from Taiwan, Fan said, adding that they could develop their mainland market.
