Trains were delayed Wednesday morning due to a malfunction on a section of the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway in the eastern province of Shandong.

Railway operations were suspended for repairs at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after a malfunction was detected in track accessories on the section linking the high-speed railway and the Jinan-Qingdao Railway, authorities with the Jinan Railway Bureau said.

The authorities did not reveal the details of the malfunction. Train services had resumed as of 2:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Some bullet trains going to Qingdao from Shanghai and Beijing have been delayed. Passengers that had been stranded due to the delays have been put on trains bound for the passengers' destinations, according to the Jinan Railway Bureau.
