NPC to deliberate expository bill of Macao's Basic Law

China's top legislature will deliberate an expository bill of the Macao Basic Law as well as other draft laws and amendments in a bimonthly session scheduled for later this month, a statement said.

The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee will convene a session on Dec. 26 to 31 in Beijing, according to a decision made at Friday's meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, which was presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Legislators will consider the expository bill of two stipulations of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) regarding the method for the selection of the SAR's Chief Executive and the method for the formation of the SAR's Legislative Council, according to a statement issued by the NPC Standing Committee after the meeting.h The statement provided no details of the expository bill.
