Zhou Qifeng, president of Peking University, spoke for middle school students Saturday in Changsha City, Hunan Province, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported.

He said that Peking University was the best university in China: "If you miss it, it is really your loss."

In response to criticism from the public over China's education, Zhou Qifeng said: "I think the U.S. education is a mess. No president there knows how to respect others and always imposes his will on others, so from this perspective, their education is truly a mess."

Zhou Qifeng holds that Chinese education is very successful on the grounds that China undergoes rapid development in recent years.

"Our country's progress largely depends on the personnel cultivated through China's education," he said.
