A man was arrested in Shenzhen, a city of southern Guangdong Province for allegedly hammering seven prostitutes in the name of safeguarding public security and justice.

The attacker surnamed Li allegedly injured the call girls seriously in his native city of Weifang in eastern Shandong Province and in the southern cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen since 2008.

Li was apprehended on Tuesday three days after he hammered a prostitute in Shenzhen's Baoan District and robbed 1,200 yuan (US$190) from her, the Guangzhou Daily reported today.

"I didn't squander the money. It is used as fund for my justice activity," Li told the police.

"Many husbands and teenage boys are tired of work and families after they were absorbed by unlicensed massage parlors that offer sex services," Li said. "That's why I hate prostitutes and began to punish them."

Before the assault, the 35-year-old would have sex with a call girl to verify whether she really sells sex, the paper said.

Police are still investigating the case.
