Xia Baolong was elected governor of Zhejiang Province Monday at the fifth session of the 11th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Xia, born in December 1952, was appointed Zhejiang's vice governor and acting governor in August last year after the local legislature approved the resignation of his predecessor Lu Zushan.

Xia, a native of northern port city of Tianjin, had long worked in his hometown. He has served as the deputy secretary of the Zhejiang provincial committee of the Communist Party of China since November 2003.
