A total of 28 tourists, including five children, have been extremely frightened when their bus was trapped by eight tigers in Jinan Wildlife World on Feb. 4, Shandong TV reported.

The Bengal tiger is a tiger subspecies native to the Indian subcontinent.

Tourists said the bus was under attack as it was about to leave the Bengal tiger zone. The tigers destroyed the wipers and broke the windshield, injuring the driver.

The zoo didn't provide an especially reinforced bus and the gatekeeper left for a meal without giving notice, the outraged visitors said.

Zoo staff came to rescue them 10 minutes after the attack had occurred. The scared tourists were offered cash compensations including admissions refunds.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
