Police are investigating a Beijing kindergarten after a three-year-old's parents accused a teacher of injecting their son's penis with an unknown substance that left the boy ill.

The head of the privately-owned kindergarten, surnamed Jiang, told Beijing media that the teacher, surnamed Wang, had argued about her salary beforehand.

Wang, who is in her 20s, resigned on the same day as the alleged incident and has completely denied the accusation.

The boy's father, surnamed Zhuang, told The Beijing News that his family were disturbed to discover a blood spot on their son's penis after he developed a high fever last Monday.

And they were shocked when the three-year-old told them: "It was Miss Wang who pricked me with an injection."

The angry parents took their son to hospital for checks and alerted police.

Medical reports show the boy's injuries corresponded to being pricked with a needle-like object, said the newspaper.

"What we fear most is that we don't know what substance has been injected into our son's penis and caused his fever," said the parents on their Sina Weibo microblog.

"We're just begging whoever did this to tell us whether there are any other infections."

According to the newspaper, Jiang paid a secret visit to the family's home last Wednesday offering 2,000 yuan (US$317), which Zhuang refused.

Zhuang speculated that Wang stuck a syringe into the child to vent her anger after her salary demands were rejected.

Jiang told the Beijing Times that she and Wang had a major argument over her salary, days before the alleged incident.

"We argued and she picked up her bag and walked out," Jiang told the newspaper.

"We are still waiting for the results of the police investigation."

"If the damage is proved to have been caused by our teacher, the kindergarten will accept responsibility," added Jiang.

Jiang said the kindergarten does not have surveillance cameras and the parents cannot provide evidence that Wang had harmed their boy.

Wang said she resigned from the kindergarten simply because she was not satisfied with her salary.

She denied injuring the boy. "It's total nonsense," Wang said.

The boy has recovered from his fever, but his parents are worried about his mental trauma and plan to take him for psychological counseling.
