More than 60 monks staged a brief parade in northwest China's Gansu province Tuesday afternoon before being sent back to their monastery, local authorities said.

Monks from the Bora Monastery of Xiahe county, located in Gansu's Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, began marching in the street at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the provincial government said.

They marched for about 10 minutes before being persuaded by local authorities to return to their monastery, according to a source from the county government.
