Nine children who sustained minor injuries in a school bus accident Wednesday in northeast China's Heilongjiang province have been discharged from a local hospital.

The accident happened at 9 a.m. Wednesday on Longxiang road in the Songbei district of the provincial capital of Harbin. A school bus with 11 children onboard overturned while en route to a local kindergarten.

The nine children received treatment at the Municipal Red Cross Central Hospital before being discharged. An employee of the hospital said the bus driver suffered a traumatic brain injury and is still in the hospital's ICU.

Another two children who suffered a traumatic brain injury and collarbone fracture, respectively, are being treated at the Municipal Children's Hospital.

The school bus belongs to a privately-run kindergarten and the bus driver is the kindergarten's director, according to the parents of one of the injured children.
