A landslide left six people missing Tuesday afternoon in southeast China's Fujian province, local authorities said.

A preliminary investigation showed that the landslide, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. in Longdeyang village of Gutian county, was triggered by recent rains, said Wu Dajin, Party chief of the county.

Over 20 firefighters from the provincial capital Fuzhou are on their way to the remote village. Fuzhou is about two hours of train ride from Gutian.
