A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged Gansu Province to use advanced and innovative methods to boost economic development while wholeheartedly addressing local people's concerns.

He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during his investigation tour in the province from May 19 to 21.

At a potato starch company, He called upon the group to pay equal attention to manufacture as well as the research and development of independent innovations in order to expand its business.

While visiting a research institute under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, He expressed his gratitude for all scientists and researchers who contributed to the country's aerospace drive, urging them to strive for new achievements.

In addition, He, who is also head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, inspected a community center designed to receive and deal with local people's complaints and concerns in Lanzhou, Gansu provincial capital.

"Superior organizations should cooperate with grassroots ones and mobilize all possible resources to solve people's problems," He said, urging improving grassroots Party building and social management and services.

During the three-day tour, He also heard work reports from the Gansu provincial committee of the CPC and the provincial government, calling for strengthened anti-corruption education for newly elected officials.
