Six arrested for underage prostitution

A netizen issued a message on Sina Weibo at 2:16 pm on May 26, saying that many entrepreneurs in Yongkang City of Zhejiang Province were involved in student prostitution.
Reporters from Qianjiang Evening News interviewed the staff of Yongkang Municipal Public Security Bureau on May 27. Chen Yongke, the communication department section chief at the Bureau, said: "It occurred in February and has already been entered on the Yongkang Municipal Public Security Bureau record. However, it is not appropriate to disclose details at this time." The case has been transferred to the local procuratorate.
According to the local public security bureau, third parties served as intermediaries to introduce these students to the prostitution trade and helped them find clients. Six suspects, including their leader, also surnamed Chen, have been arrested.
A lawyer published an obscure statement on May 25 dismissing the rumor that multiple company CEOs were being investigated by judicial departments.
Section chief Chen said that February's case may be related to the statement. The alleged rumor was most likely referring to the student prostitution case.
Insiders said that over 20 students in three schools were involved in the case, and that 10-plus of these students, all under age 18, served as concubines for CEOs. Three CEOs have been arrested. However, Yongkang City Public Security Bureau staff said that they could not confirm these figures.
Chen, the prostitution gang's leader, has been sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment for three years, and was previously on probation since last August for a separate charge of sheltering other persons engaged in prostitution.
