Police from the Chinese mainland handed over an exhibit item, which was allegedly stolen by a mainland tourist, to Taiwan police on Tuesday.

On May 7, Taiwan police reported to the mainland a case involving a mainland tourist suspected of stealing an item from an exhibition in Taiwan's Kinmen, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Ministry of Public Security.

"Mainland police immediately began working on the case and retrieved the stolen item on the night of May 7," said the statement, without giving further details on the nature of the item.
