Seven workers were killed on Friday after their scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Yunnan province, local authorities said.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. at a cooling tower construction site at a power plant in Weixin county. Eight workers were buried after the collapse, a Weixin County Publicity Department official said Friday night.

Seven died at the scene and the injured was receiving treatment at a local hospital, he said.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
