Thirteen mainland tourists sustained minor injuries Wednesday in central Taiwan's mountainous Alishan Scenic Area when a front wheel of the passenger vehicle they were travelling in veered into a roadside ditch, according to the local rescue agency.

The vehicle carrying a total of 26 mainland tourists from the northern mainland city of Shenyang was heading down a mountain in the Alishan area around noon, and 13 people sustained minor injuries by colliding with each other or seats when the vehicle wheel hit a ditch, Xinhua was told over phone by the firefighting agency in Chiayi county.

Following the accident, rescuers took the injured to local hospitals for treatment.
