South China factory blast kills 3, injures 6

Three people died and six were injured after an explosion happened in a musical instrument factory in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said Saturday.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m. Saturday in a factory mainly producing musical instrument cases, which is located in an industrial park in Lishui Township, Foshan City, according to a statement released by the local government.

Two people were killed during the blast and one died in hospital. Among the six injured, two have already checked out of the hospital, the statement said.

The fire triggered by the explosion was extinguished by Saturday noon.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
