A Tibetan woman died of self-immolation on Tuesday in northwest China's Gansu Province over conflicts between her and her families, authorities said.

Drung Gertso, 26, set herself on fire at the Tso Monastery in the city of Tso in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture after she refused to return to her husband's home as her parents wanted, according to a written statement issued by the Gannan prefectural committee of the Communist Party of China.

Drung Gertso, a villager of Namur Township, married her husband Dornen from another village in the city six years ago. After giving birth to two daughters, she returned to her parents in 2010 because of discord with her husband's family, said the statement.

Earlier this year, she worked for five months after this Spring Festival in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, while her parents tried to persuade her to return to her husband's home. After clashing with both families, she committed suicide, according to the statement.

Drung Gertso had intermittent mental disease, and she used to tell some of her relatives that she would commit suicide owing to frustration over family conflicts, according to the statement.

Her remains have been delivered to her parents for funeral.
