A reservoir in Zhoushan City, east China's Zhejiang Province breached its bank Friday morning, leaving at least 10 dead and 27 injured.

The 28.5-meter-high dam of the Shenjiakeng Reservoir, a rainwater pooling dam in Daishan county, collapsed at around 5 a.m., officials said.

A water conservancy expert team sent by the provincial government has arrived at the site to help carry out emergency repairs of the dam.

Typhoon Haikui hit Zhejiang Wednesday, affecting more than 4.03 million people and causing economic losses of more than 10 billion yuan (1.57 billion U.S. dollars). The typhoon has also destroyed 4,452 houses and damaged about 184,800 hectares of cropland.
