5. Regional development

Western China has made great progress in infrastructure construction, completing the building of Qinghai-Tibet railway, west-to-east natural gas pipelines and west-east power transmission lines. Central China has been working hard to take advantage of its geographical location to promote special economic zones, urban agglomerations and major transportation hubs. Northeast China has focused on the transformation of resource-intensive cities and the rejuvenation of state-owned enterprises and state-owned forests and reclamation areas.
