Four medical workers were injured in a hospital attack in the southern city of Shenzhen in Guangdong province Monday morning, local health authorities confirmed.
The incident happened at around 10 a.m. at the Shenzhen Pengcheng Hospital in the Luohu District when a man surnamed Ou broke into the E.N.T. department of the hospital and slashed four medical workers, said a spokesman for the Health, Population and Family Planning Commission of Shenzhen Municipality.
Two of the four victims, who were seriously injured, underwent surgery. All four are now out of danger, the spokesman said.
Ou, who had a surgical treatment in the hospital in July, was arrested by local police and his motive is being investigated, according to the spokesman.
The Shenzhen Pengcheng Hospital is an integrated privately-run hospital with more than 450 employees.
