A songshi (legal counsel) was a traditional profession in ancient China. They used to help illiterate grass-root citizens to write plaints, letters, etc.

Over 70-year-old Zhang Yongxing is a modern songshi and famous in his neighborhood for helping locals to write letters, applications, lawsuits and IOUs, at a low fee.

Through his efforts, this disappearing profession has managed to adapt itself to modern-day society.
