While millions of bargain hunters wallowed in an online shopping spree on November 11, the Singles Day in China, a man passed out after shopping without a break for 18 hours.

A man surnamed Liu was found lying unconscious on Sunday night in his house in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province. To secure big bargains, he was glued to his computer screen for 18 hours without eating and drinking, a local newspaper reported today.

He was immediately sent to the Harbin No. 2 People's Hospital where he was given intravenous drip to treat hypoglycemia that caused him to faint. This can result in death if not treated timely, doctors said.

Four people in their 20s were sent to the hospital for the same symptom in recent days, they said.
