No cases of blindness have been reported in the country from using Ibuprofen, a drug commonly used to reduce fever and pain in children, China's drug safety watchdog said Monday.

The comments by the State Food and Drug Administration came after foreign media reported that a seven-year-old girl in the United States was left blind after taking an Ibuprofen product of the pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson.

The administration urged the public to follow instructions strictly when using Ibuprofen and avoid overdose experiences.

Adverse effects associated with the drug should be reported immediately, it added.
