A chemical plant worker went on rampage and killed six people in Shanghai [Photo / Xinmin.cn]

 

Police have arrested a suspect who had allegedly killed six people, including four collegues, one taxi driver and a barrack guard Saturday night in Baoshan District, Shanghai Municipality.

The suspect, a 62-year-old man working in a chemical plant, killed a colleague out of financial disputes at around 5 P.M. Saturday afternoon, according to his initial confession.

Police said the suspectlater took out a shotgun in his secret possession and fled to Zhoupu area in Shanghai's Pudong District on a taxi. He later killed the taxi driver and drove the robbed vehicle back to Baoshan, during which he shot dead a sentinel outside a military compound and grabbed the soldier's weapon.

As he went back to his workplace, Fan gunned down another three people, including a victim surnamed Li, the plant's manager.

The suspect was later subdued by patrolling police officers in the area and all the firearms involving in the case have been recovered.

Police said the case was still under further investigation and did not reveal more information.
