Yue Shuwang, CPC secretary of Pingdingbao Township, the seat of impoverished Guyuan County, was sacked after an investigation showed he spent 200,000 yuan (about 32,400 U.S.dollars) on a wedding banquet for his daughter, as well as received 1 million yuan in gifts from others, according to the county's CPC committee.

Yue was also ordered to return the money he had accepted.

The county's discipline inspection commission has created a team to investigate the case further.

The government has called for greater efforts to eliminate extravagance and corruption in recent months.
