A girl surnamed Yu was detained by Chaoyang District police in Beijing on Nov. 3 for stealing money from foreigners in bars.

In an incident this August, the girl started to chat to a foreign man in a bar in Chaoyang District, and got him drunk, after which she took him to a hotel. When the man woke up, he discovered that many of his valuables were missing, including a tablet computer and a mobile phone. As the girl was nowhere to be seen, he called the police.

The victim recalled that the girl was about 1.6 meters high. After reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel, he identified the girl and police arrested her in a bar on Aug. 20.

The girl, Yu, was once a university English major. She confessed that lack of a job or money compelled her to steal money. Every time, she seduced a man using her charming appearance and fluent English, and after she got him drunk, she would take him to a hotel and steals his valuables.

Police confirmed that the girl withdrew about 400,000 RMB (US$65,560) from one foreign man's card in May. She has been detained by the Chaoyang District police and is awaiting trial.
