The continuing fog and haze has led to an 8-year-old girl contracting lung cancer, according to a hospital in East China's Jiangsu Province.

The girl, who has not been named, became the youngest person in China to contract lung cancer which doctors claim was caused by the country's horrendous air pollution.

It was reported that the girl lives close to a road, where inhalable particles accumulate in large amounts, especially in foggy and hazy weather.
