At least 15 people were killed while eight others injured in a blast at a suspected hillside gambling den Monday afternoon in Guizhou Province, local government said.
The explosion occurred around 2:30 p.m. at Laoshan village in the city of Kaili, sources with the city's publicity department said. The site of the blast was confirmed to be a gambling venue.
The provincial government has urged local authorities to spare no efforts in treating the injured, and has ordered the city to screen for risks in the management of explosives.
Investigation into the case is now in full swing.
