A man skilled in martial arts has confessed to raping his niece, killing five people and injuring one after he fought police and was taken into custody in Henan Province, Shanxi Evening News reported.

Shanxi police captured the 26-year-old man, surnamed Yang, after several fierce fights with officers, the report said. He was then handed to police in Henan, where the alleged crimes took place, the report said.

Shanxi police were cited as saying Yang, who had studied kung fu at the famed Shaolin Temple, had six different identity cards.

Yang allegedly raped his 14-year-old niece on March 26. After learning his uncles had reported to the police, he sneaked into two of his uncles' home with hatchet and kitchen knives the next day and killed five people and injured one, the report said. The report didn't state the identities of the victims, but it is believed most of them were family members.

Yang was known for causing trouble in his village, according to the report.

The man's relationship with his five uncles soured three years ago after they decided to teach him a lesson for his thuggish behavior, the newspaper reported.

Police are still investigating the case.
