Alleged mafia leader Liu Han on Thursday continued to deny all charges against him after his younger brother pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday.
Liu, a mining tycoon in southwest China's Sichuan Province, has been on trial since March 31 accused of murder, bank fraud and running a mafia-style gang, along with his brother Liu Wei and 34 other defendants.
On Thursday, Liu Han made a statement which lasted two hours and twenty minutes, denying all of the prosecutors' charges. He said all the facts and evidence could not prove his guilt.
Other defendants in the case also made statements.
Prosecutors claimed there was enough evidence to prove the crimes of Liu and the other defendants.
Each of them have committed multiple crimes and should be punished, prosecutors said.
On Wednesday, Liu Wei pleaded guilty when the trial of the case involving him and six other alleged gang members ended.
In his final statement, Liu Wei thanked the court for giving him his full rights and said that he was willing to accept punishment.
Six other defendants also said they regretted their crimes.
The defendants were simultaneously prosecuted in seven cases, which are connected. The trials of six cases have ended following the adjournment of Liu Wei's case on Wednesday.
The trail of Liu Han is expected to close soon.
