The woman, named Lyu Na, gave birth on June 12. She insisted on having the child even though it posed a great risk to her already poor physical condition. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated quickly after giving birth.

Lyu's husband, Wang Shoukui, once had a glimmer of hope that her wife still had a chance of surviving the disease. However, he was simply told by doctors that Lyu's physical health could not stand any chemotherapy after a thorough examination and had only six months left to live at most.

Wang is still in deep sorrow about his wife's death. He is worried that his child would ask for his mom after he had grown up and may even be teased by other children. However, Wang promised that he will take care of their child well and work to give him a happy childhood.

Lyu's incident drew great public attention after it was reported. To date, Lyu's family has accepted over 220,000 yuan (US$35,200) in donations. Lyu's father promised that every cent will be used on his grandchild.
