The opinion was given on the conference marking the 60th anniversary of the opening of Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways, which was held by the China Tibetology Research Center in Beijing on Aug. 11, 2014.

Experts and scholars specialized in Tibetology and road traffic attended the conference, and ten of them gave speeches based on their personal experiences about the two crucial highways that link Tibet with the outside world during the past over 60 years.

"The Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways are the roads leading to liberation, unification and happiness, which have changed Tibet," said Ye Xingsheng, researcher of the China Tibetology Research Center.

"Tibet used to stand alone in a corner due to the geological barriers, but the two highways later link the isolated place with the rest of world, which are not only significant for Tibet's development, but also bring the highland much closer to the South Asia," according to Ma Jiali, researcher of the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations.
