Xi chairs meeting on reform

Chinese President Xi Jinping said China should deepen comprehensive reforms. He made the remark on Monday when he chaired a meeting under the Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reforms.

The meeting reviewed three proposals. They include two proposal over the reforms of salary schemes, as well as spending budgets, for heads of Central Government backed firms, and also a proposal for enrolment reforms in China’s education system.

The meeting also approved three documents: A proposal for deepening the collaborative development of both China’s traditional and new media; a plan for future reform measures from 2014 to 2020, and a report on the outcomes of reform efforts in the first half of this year.

Later in the day, President Xi held a separate meeting under the Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs, where he stressed the importance of boosting innovation in the country’s development.
