It is expected that more than 800 enterprises will participate in the fair to offer nearly 7,000 jobs.

People can browse on the Internet for an introduction to participating enterprises and for recruitment information, according to the organizers, the Western Returned Scholars Association and Overseas-Educated Scholars Association. The official website is haigui.ccthr.com.

Statistics show the number of overseas Chinese returnees has reached 800,000 over the past five years, becoming known as "the biggest homecoming tide in history."

The year of 2013 was described as "the most difficult employment season ever," while this year there are an additional 280,000 college graduates swelling the total of job-hunters to 7.27 million. With the number of returnees continuing to increase, the employment situation looks very grim.

For a long time, foreign enterprises were the first job choice for overseas returnees, but this has changed with the growing strength of the domestic economy. Some local private enterprises with ample strength have gradually attracted overseas returnees' attention.

According to the Chinese International Talents Annual Blue Book published by the Social Sciences Academic Press (China) in 2012 regarding employment choices for overseas returnees, 71.2 percent are private enterprises, with foreign-funded enterprises or joint ventures accounting for only 11.3 percent.

Participating enterprises in this year's job fair include private enterprises, foreign enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and public institutions covering the fields of culture, media, education, scientific research, consulting, biological medicine, technology development, financial investment, economic and trade, and information services.

According to the organizers, with the fair growing bigger each year, the 2015 event will be staged on a global basis with the cooperation of related organizations.
